Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about MyScreenSize.
How do I check my screen size?
Visit MyScreenSize.com — the tool automatically detects your resolution, estimates physical size, and matches your device against our database. No installation required.
What devices are supported?
Phones (iPhone, Android), tablets (iPad, Android tablets), laptops (MacBook, Windows), and monitors. Works best with JavaScript enabled and without "Request Desktop Site" on mobile.
Is MyScreenSize free?
Yes — completely free forever. No registration, no premium tiers, no hidden costs.
How accurate is detection?
We use a scoring algorithm across 440+ named devices and 100+ resolution profiles. When multiple devices share the same resolution, we use your browser user-agent to narrow the match and show a confidence score. Unknown devices get a PPI-based estimate.
Do you store my data?
Screen analysis runs locally in your browser. We temporarily fetch your public IP for the Network tab display only — it is not stored.
Why does it show the wrong device?
Many devices share identical resolutions. Disable desktop mode on mobile, check our Find Device Model guide, or use the confidence score as a guide.
What is PPI?
Pixels Per Inch measures display sharpness. Use our PPI Calculator to compute it from resolution and screen size.
Can I compare two devices?
Yes — use the Compare Screen Sizes tool for side-by-side and overlay visual comparisons.
Does it work on iPads and tablets?
Yes. Tablets are supported the same way as phones. For model-specific dimensions, see our iPad and tablet screen sizes guide or use the compare tool.
Can I check an external monitor?
Yes when the monitor is your active display. Resolution and size estimates reflect the screen you are using. See our monitor screen sizes guide for common desktop display specs.
Why does mobile show a desktop resolution?
"Request Desktop Site" or desktop mode in your browser reports a wide viewport and can break detection. Turn it off and reload, or read our desktop site mode guide.
What is the difference between resolution and screen size?
Resolution is pixel count (e.g. 1920×1080). Screen size is the physical diagonal in inches. Both matter for sharpness (PPI). Our resolution vs screen size guide explains how they relate.
